Abby Godwin is a distinctive singer/songwriter, recording artist & minstrel with deep love for God, and a significant God-given mandate to bring love, healing and restoration to the broken and abused through her music.
Born into a very musical family – at the tender age of 4, her dad being the Choir Director recruited her to sing in the “Alto section” of the church choir. Throughout her childhood and teenage years, she continued to develop her gift by taking singing lessons, singing solo parts in school plays and productions, listening extensively to model artists whose work inspired her.
Abby is blessed with a dusky mezzo-soprano voice with a warm soulful tone and texture with broad vocal range and dexterity & agility. She’s got a broad versatility in genres and can perform; Soul, RnB, Jazz, traditional & contemporary Gospel, Blues, to name a few.
Over the years, she worked with various artists in the gospel scene as a backing vocalist, vocal arranger, and as a session singer recording radio jingles, Nollywood movie & soap opera soundtracks. The most popular one is “This Life” – A Wale Adenuga production on the Nollywood scene.
She is a member of Europe’s premier “London Community Gospel Choir (LCGC)” where her gift has been further developed under the impeccable tutelage of Rev. Bazil Meade. This has afforded her extensive opportunities to travel around the world for international & high-profile performances.
In 2019, Abby Godwin was presented with the Levites Award at the African Gospel Music & Media Awards (AGMMA).
Apart from her musical accomplishments, Abby Godwin is a First-Class Graduate of Financial Services, a certified Business Analyst with vast expertise in the IT sector.
